When it comes to nutrition a common issue isn’t that people do not know how many calories they should have on a daily basis but that they under or overestimate how many they have consumed. Whether it is thinking those couple of biscuits with a cup of tea on a break can’t have that many calories or that salad was a nice low-calorie lunch option, forgetting the dressing is full of sugar.
One way to counter this is by tracking your calories for a set period of time so you can have an accurate idea of how many you consume and also how many calories your regular foods contain. There are plenty of apps available these days that make the process much easier as you can often just scan your food then enter the amount. Yes it can be time consuming to begin with but once you get in the habit it can really help you stick to your goals and also educate yourself on your nutrition.
Give it a go and see if you find it that much easier to set a goal and then stick to it!
