On a sunny Friday morning at the end of June our very own Kim Mead set off with her partner and his colleagues from MMX Retail on a 26 mile walk through the sites of London.  This was no ordinary stroll around the capital but a very well organised charity walk with one main goal, to raise as much money as possible for The Brain Tumour Charity.

Fundraising

Alex Hobbs, son of David Hobbs (Partner at MMX Retail), was diagnosed with a Medulloblastoma (a type of brain tumour) in September 2017, aged just three and a half years old.
Over the past 18 months the team at MMX Retail have been raising money for PNET5, a new pioneering treatment that Alex has undertaken. The team has run 5km, a half marathon, the Moon Walk, walked the height of Everest and organised a race night to name a few. This has enabled them to raise close to £20,000 for this amazing charity.

The Big One

Named ‘The Big One’, this walk was the final part of their fundraising efforts and we’d like to congratulate Kim who completed the 26 mile walk in just under 7 hours, finishing in style with a small rehydration party to aid recovery!
In addition to Kim’s support, motive8 donated £1000 to the charity and sponsored some specially designed rucksacks that came in very handy for storing drinks, snacks and much needed blister plasters!
Kim commented , “This was one of the most worthwhile things I’ve ever done, it was an honour being part of such a great team and helping raise much needed funds for The Brain Tumour Charity.”
