At motive8 our management services extend way beyond the smooth running of gym and spa facilities.
At each site we offer a wide range of bespoke fitness services including personal training, gym inductions, injury rehabilitation, swimming lessons and fitness classes, which are tailored depending on the demand of its members.
Last month we celebrated ‘National Fitness Day’ across all our managed sites with a range of fitness challenges and bespoke wellbeing sessions.
One of the most popular yoga workshops ‘Physical Energy Reset’ was led by Gym & Spa Area Manager, Lauren Alford where each participant received a Zephorium body lotions gift pack.
Lauren is a holistic therapist and yoga teacher who specialises in chakra and aura healing. Here we share Lauren’s yoga knowledge on ‘energy’ and advice on how we can use it to help us through the current climate:
Physical Energy – We can’t touch it but we can change it
Energy, it’s a powerful thing but understanding it can be life changing!
A bit much, I know, but energy is a wonderful thing to be aware of. How many times have you walked into a room and everyone is a little bit grumpy? Now think about that room, how did you feel after spending time there? Grumpy, Right?! That is because we entrain or take on the energy that is around us and unfortunately, it is usually the negative energy that is easier to take on than the positive.
Right now we are all affected by the current global events and I certainly know that I don’t always feel so stable or ‘normal’.
Whenever, the physical world around us changes it is good to look at resetting your lower chakras. The Root, Sacral and Solar Plexus chakras are wheels of energy that turn and vibrate. They link us to physical events and the people in our lives.
The Root chakra sits at the base of the spine and is linked to grounding and stability. Physical ailments associated are lower back, knee, ankle and feet pain. Emotional ailments include anxiety, depression, indecisiveness and insecurities.
The Sacral chakra sits just below the navel and is linked to sensuality and sexuality. This is where emotional tension and our life lessons are held. Such as grief, guilt and jealousy.
The Solar Plexus chakra sits at the top of the rib cage and is linked to willpower and joy. This is where we find confidence and learn to trust our gut instincts.
How to affect your lower chakras
Knowing how to affect your lower chakras can really help to improve our overall wellbeing and mind-set.
Some very easy ways to do this are to use colour, yoga asana, aromatherapy oils/smells and affirmations:
Smell/Oil: Ylang Ylang
Yoga Asana: Balance postures such as Tree Pose
Affirmation: I am strong, I am loved, I am grounded
Yoga Asana: Hip Openers such as Pigeon pose
Affirmation: Healing occurs every time I rest
Solar Plexus Chakra:
Yoga Asana: Postures that encourage core stability such as plank
Affirmation: I am confident in my ability to make my life work
These are of course very brief ideas but even small introductions can make an overall difference.
For me understanding energy, chakras and auras has made a massive difference on how I view the world around me. Personally, it helped me to cope with grief in a way that conventional therapies never could. Am I saying it is for everyone? No, but for myself and for my clients it can certainly help.
