Stunning new gym and studio complete with living wall for employees to access 24/7

Earlier this year, motive8 installed a gym, fitness/yoga studio, treatment room and changing facilities for this large corporate client in the basement of their London headquarters, providing employees with a stunning leisure and wellbeing facility open 24/7. With many employees working around the clock the option to work-out at any hour during the day was a key factor when planning this new space.

Our client was keen to ensure that employees and contractors had access to a facility which would cater for a wide range of exercise styles so as to please as many employees as possible. The space that was chosen had some significant challenges such as low running ducts and pipework which had to be moved, drain covers which need accessing occasionally, access control as the building is shared along with being on the smaller side of what was required.

This corporate client commissioned motive8 to provide consultancy services across all areas for their new leisure facility. The consultancy phase of the project saw the motive8 Gym Design team work closely with the Facilities team on all aspects of space planning for the gym, fitness studio, treatment room and changing rooms. Once the floor plans were finalised, the team identified the equipment, fixture and fittings requirements for the gym and fitness studio. motive8 were retained to install all equipment, fixtures & fittings for both the gym and fitness/yoga studio.

The gym features a full range of Technogym cardio and resistance equipment, a concept 2 rower  and a Wattbike. A free weights area with a wide range of Erimus equipment is also included alongside two multi-adjustable benches.

A separate studio has been kitted out with a bespoke wall mounted rig, punch bags, TRX, spin bikes and other studio equipment.

Working with specialist partners, motive8 sourced and installed the lockers and vanity units in the changing rooms and shower facilities that are located adjacent to the gym.

With their employees wellbeing at the forefront of the project, plans included a forest scene mural on the main gym wall and a unique green/living wall in the fitness studio. The idea of such walls is that they trap pollutants and purify the air. The living wall is made-up of green moss and creates its own micro-climate which not only encourages plant growth but also makes a stunning feature.

motive8 has been retained to deliver induction and personal training services to employees and also maintenance of the gym and studio equipment. The finished facility is a welcome space for busy employees to escape from their desks, whether it be for a short weights session, a group spin class or to enjoy a much needed treatment.

“Working with this corporate client was an absolute pleasure from start to finish and I look forward to the continued relationship as we look to enhance their wellbeing offer through the various fitness services and workshops that we are offering”.
