Annexe becomes a bespoke functional home gym
Our private client was looking to convert their external annexe, adjoining an existing double garage into a bespoke home gym. The ultimate goal of this project was to create a gym that incorporated a wide range of functional and cardio gym equipment that didn’t feel cramped or too masculine as it is to be used by the whole family. The existing space, complete with separate shower room already offered lots of natural light, was fully insulated, had oak wooden flooring and newly decorated blank walls, which meant that our gym design team were able to focus straight away on the right equipment and layout of the space. To ensure a good mix of functional/weight-training equipment we installed an Erimus half rack with TRX training system, a versatile option for both bodyweight and resistance training. A Technogym Element+ adjustable bench and selection of Erimus dumbbells and medicine balls completed the functional zone. Cardio equipment included a Concept 2 rower, Wattbike, Technogym treadmill and new Life Fitness IC8 Bike, giving our clients the option of a varied workout all in one space. Keeping the space tidy was a key request so a freestanding shelving unit was added to store Swiss balls, kettle bells and other fitness equipment. A selection of plants was also added to improve air quality and to promote a sense of tranquillity. Our team worked closely with the client from start to finish, giving expert advice especially during the installation phase and once the final hand-over was completed, provided a free PT session for the family to kick start their fitness journeys.
