National Fitness Day was started by the late Jan Saticchia in 2011 and is now organised by UK Active.
It is a day where gyms and fitness professionals across the UK come together to join forces in promoting health and wellbeing.
At motive8 and across our fully managed sites we organised a huge range of events to encourage residents to venture into the various leisure facilities (or outside them) to try out new classes, sports or games. All sessions were completely free of charge for residents and we even managed to raise some funds for Heart Research UK.
Some of the offerings included:
- Massage taster sessions
- Train with an Olympian themed classes (hosted by Asha Phillips)
- Trainer vs resident fitness challenges
- On-the hour-every hour classes offered throughout the day from 8am – 8pm
- Goodie bags from local sustainable sources
- Taster aqua-fit classes
- Taster box-fit classes
- Technique seminars helping residents better their weight-lifting technique
The highlight of the day was at Fulham Reach in Hammersmith where our management team gained the support of the local rowing club and were able to offer residents the chance to try out rowing on the River Thames in one of the rowing club boats. Huge thanks to Fulham Reach Boat Club for providing the residents with a really special and memorable fitness opportunity.
