This month we caught up with Jo Hunt, motive8’s Gym & Spa Operations Manager. Jo joined motive8 in early 2023 and has since become an integral member of the team supporting across all areas of the business from HR, finance to recruitment.
Operational Gym & Spa Support Role
My role is incredibly varied and no day is the same. I split my time between the motive8 head office (3 days per week) and visiting our London based managed residential sites (2 days per week). Whilst in the office I communicate with all departments, including our gym and pool maintenance and management divisions.
Being a very hands-on role I support payroll, and ensure there’s a screening process for all applications that come through for our vacancies, as well as completing HR audits to working with uniform suppliers. When I’m out and about around town, I’m busy supporting our residential management teams, conducting site inspections to maintain our incredibly high service standards and organising fun events for our residents.

Everyone is so personable from the senior leadership team to the onsite Duty Managers – I consistently feel supported and appreciated.
Recruiting a new gym & spa team
Since joining I have worked on several different projects but my most memorable and rewarding was being responsible for the recruitment of an entire gym and spa management team prior to the opening of a brand new managed residential site. I thrived during this challenge and was delighted to see an internal promotion.
Professional gym & Spa development
I have been exposed to many new responsibilities across the business and as a result have learnt a great deal and feel my personal and professional development has flourished as a result. A key element of my role is liaising with many different stakeholders and departments so communicating is key and keeping perspective is everything!
